Hey there, everyone! (Everyone being a loose term as this is my first post and there might only be 12 of you). Here are some movies I think you might like. Recommendations for when you feel like watching an entire movie on Netflix, not just watching enough trailers to make up the time of an actual movie. I do not have any particular skill set that gives any credibility to my recommendations, except I suppose that I love watching and talking about great movies!

I thought about presenting each movie as an individual post (you know, for more content) but for my very first post, on my brand new blog, why not just go all in?!

Just watching the trailers has made me want to watch them all over again. Here you go…

Roma

Roma is a slow and beautiful story about a domestic worker named Cleo, the middle class family she works for and Mexico.  It is about the have and have nots, family, work, heartache and how simple, complicated and beautiful life can be. It’s what I consider an artsy movie and I am interested to hear what people think of it.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

‘Shit. Just. Got. Real.’ What a gem of a movie this is! We loved this quirky and sweet story about a foster child named Ricky and the foster aunt and uncle that take him in. After a very sad event takes place, Ricky and his foster uncle find themselves on the run in the New Zealand bush. A great movie for the whole family if your parenting skills are lax like ours are for the third child.

Tallulah

I really loved this movie about a free spirit (Ellen Page) who finds herself taking care of a baby whom she pretends is her own. I love Allison Janney’s character who is trying to pick up the pieces of her dysfunctional life.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

A movie that will make you want to dig out your old mixed tapes (I still have mine!) and remember every painful (lots) and exhilarating (one or two?) moment from high school.

Man Up

Super charming and funny movie about two odd balls having a go at a relationship with one another.

Sing Street

I have seen this movie six times! And I am SHOCKED when people tell me they don’t love it. What?! Love the story. Love the music. And any movie that has mixed tapes in it is a winner for me! Another movie for the whole family…again, for those with a  loose criteria for what a family movie should be.

Ibiza

SUPER fun and funny chick flick! Do not watch with your children! Save for a girls’ night and pour the bubbly!

Lady Bird

Another nostalgic movie that reminded me of being a teenager. Lady Bird is a know it all, crusty, artsy and sensitive teenager whose relationship with her mother is both harsh and loving.
